Café de la Mairie

Just 15 minutes north of Saint-Omer, the Café de la Mairie serves traditional cuisine in a friendly setting.

This charming estaminet with its chalk facade, typical of the country dwellings, is located on the town square in Tournehem-sur-la-Hem. It's a not-to-be-missed spot on the Via Francigena route. Nicole will be delighted to share her good humour, her Flemish carbonade, her old-fashioned games (Nicolas billiards and chip games) and... her visitors' book. A very pleasant place to stop.

The Café de la Mairie hiking estaminet has been awarded the "Valeurs Parc Naturel Régional des Caps et Marais d'Opale" label.

Specialities: soup, croque-monsieur and croque-madame, mixed sandwiches, Flemish carbonade, potchevelch and country tart.

Reservations essential for groups.

Plus: bread, local produce, sweets, fishing tackle and bait.

Several hiking trails nearby: Le sentier Saint Louis (9km on foot), La Chapelle Saint Louis (30km by bike), Le sentier du Bois d'Ello (15km on foot).
